Speedy Bear Visits Iowa

While in town promoting next month’s race weekend at Iowa Speedway, NASCAR Xfinity Series driver John Hunter Nemecheck and NASCAR Gander Outdoor Truck Series driver Brett Moffitt took a tour of several local spots in and around the Des Moines area.

Joining the two former Iowa Speedway champions on their tour was The NASCAR Foundation’s very own Speedy Bear!

One of the first stops on their day was on set at the Iowa Live morning show to meet hosts Jackie and Lou!

The highlight of the day was Speedy’s visit with pediatric patients at MercyOne Children’s Hospital alongside Nemecheck and Moffitt.

Each child being treated on the pediatric floor received their very own Speedy Bear, and Iowa Speedway provided the floor with two Chevrolet-style Iowa Speedway remote control vehicles. The cars will be used to allow patients to ride the vehicles to and from their procedures and examinations.

“When you can bring joy to other people, especially children who are in need of a smile, it goes a long way for us,” Moffitt said.

Thank you to Iowa Speedway, Brett Moffitt, and John Hunter Nemecheck for taking the time to visit the patients at MercyOne, bringing a smile to each and every one!
