Meet Lisa, her older sister Rachel, their two older brothers David and Christian, and their parents Pete & Judy. At various times over the past several years, three of Pete and Judy’s four children have been Victory Junction (VJ) campers! Judy says VJ has made a difference in their kid’s lives… "We have seen our children grow and become more independent with each time they attended Victory Junction." Judy continued to share, "They have made incredible relationships and everyone is incredibly encouraging at camp; no matter the camper’s skill level or ability. Campers can be their self without having to explain themselves. Everyone just gets it."
The youngest of the siblings is Lisa. She turned 16 years old earlier this year. This past weekend was her last time at camp before ageing out of the program. Lisa had several exciting moments over the weekend – she caught a couple fish, shot three bullseyes at archery (which earned her a medal), and she sang an original song during Stage Night. In addition, Lisa and all her siblings rode a paddleboat for the first time. A few other things they mentioned enjoying includes bowling, the animals, meals and Adam’s Race Shop. "We just love it all!" they said. For Lisa and her sister and brothers, Victory Junction is… "A place where you don’t have to feel different about your health or limitations, where your stress melts away, and where everyone encourages you about everything!"
This family has repeatedly expressed their appreciation of their time together and experiences during The NASCAR Foundation sponsored family weekend. Their personal message of thanks to The NASCAR Foundation… "From the bottom of our hearts we are incredibly grateful to you for your support and generosity that enabled us to attend! It was a HUGE blessing to us all! Please know that what you do makes a difference beyond camp. We can foresee the coming weeks with a renewed outlook thanks to our time away as a family!"
