11th Annual ‘Taste of the 24’ Continues Event’s Tradition of Success


21 Area Restaurants Offer Cuisine Samples to Huge Crowd on Saturday Night

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Jan. 27, 2020) - With the 58th running of the Rolex 24 At DAYTONA in the books and logged as a spectacular success, Saturday night’s 11th annual Taste of the 24 can be placed in the same post-event category.

Approximately 2,000 people attended the "Taste," the anticipated dining event held in the Daytona International Speedway Midway Suites, enjoying cuisine samples from 21 area restaurants, including a number representing the ONE DAYTONA complex across the street from the "World Center of Racing." Restaurants from ONE DAYTONA shared a suited, which had an "Around the World" decorative theme.

A number of new restaurants participated this year: 4 Rivers Smokehouse, P.F. Chang’s, Dahlia Mexican Kitchen and The DAYTONA, Autograph Collection from the ONE DAYTONA complex; plus Tijuana Flats, Metro Diner, Simply Gina and Zappi’s. Other restaurants returned this year, including 31 Supper Club, Americrown, Azure at The Shores Resort & Spa, Backyard Boys BBQ & Catering, Ben & Jerry’s, BJ’s Restaurant and Brewhouse, Cakery Creation, Daytona Lagoon, Jeremiah’s Italian Ice, Kale Café, Midici The Neapolitan Pizza Company, Rock Bottom Restaurant & Brewery and Spectra Food Services and Hospitality.

Highlights of the night that complemented the cuisine – aside from the exotic sports cars competing in the Rolex 24 At DAYTONA roaring around the speedway road course in the background – included a variety of entertainment, such as a magician, a Roaring 20s-themed dance troupe, DJs and a fundraising silent auction.

Perhaps the highlight, at least for one lucky attendee, was the raffle drawing for a new Rolex watch. Sunil Patel had the winning ticket; he went hope happy and, of course, in a timely manner.

"Ultimately, though – food and prize notwithstanding – everyone was there for one important reason, to support The NASCAR Foundation and its health and wellness program that benefit children," said Nichole Krieger, the foundation’s executive director. "Once again the support from area restaurants and the community made this year’s Taste a huge success."
