2026 Honor a Cancer Hero NASCAR O'Reilly Auto Parts Series Heroes
Cancer Hero: Faryn Goldstein
Riding with NASCAR O'Reilly Auto Parts Series Driver: Anthony Alfredo
Nominated By: Nicole Caselli
Why Cancer Hero Was Nominated: I chose my friend Faryn as my Cancer Hero because I’ve known her for most of my life, and I’ve never been more proud to call someone my friend.
Faryn and I met in 6th grade when we were 12 years old, playing flute together in school band. Over the years, we’ve shared so many life milestones, but nothing compares to watching her navigate the past year.
Not long after becoming a first-time mom, Faryn was diagnosed with breast cancer at just 36 years old. Her son, Cooper, had been born premature and spent time in the NICU, so she and her husband Josh were already facing challenges that come with a high-risk pregnancy and a newborn when they received the news that would change their lives.
Over the past year, I’ve watched Faryn go through chemotherapy, surgery, radiation, and ongoing treatment. I especially treasured the chemo countdown photos I'd get in return to my bi-weekly chemo check-in texts. Through it all, she and Josh have continued to build a loving family and give Cooper the happiest childhood possible.
What amazes me most is that she has never stopped being a mom. Even during treatment, she was still focused on Cooper’s milestones, family adventures, and making memories together. She has faced more than most people will ever have to face, yet she continues to show up every day with determination, humor, and an incredible love for her family.
If you asked Faryn, she’d probably say she’s not a hero—she’s just doing what she has to do. But after knowing her for nearly 25 years, I can tell you that’s exactly what makes her one.
I nominated Faryn because she represents strength, resilience, and the power of never giving up. Watching her fight through cancer while continuing to be an amazing wife to Josh and an incredible mom to Cooper has been inspiring to everyone who knows her.
I am honored to celebrate my lifelong friend as my Cancer Hero (and turn her into a NASCAR fan in the process!)
