Can you image what it would be like to come home after school and not know where your next meal was going to come from? For Parker White, this fate for any child is unthinkable. 
In working to find a solution to this problem, Parker founded BackPack Beginnings, the initiative for which she was named a finalist for The NASCAR Foundation’s Betty Jane France Humanitarian Award presented by Nationwide in 2016. As a finalist, Parker received a donation of $25,000 from The NASCAR Foundation, which has allowed BackPack Beginnings to add seven more schools and serve 185 more children in the Greensboro, North Carolina area.
“I never imagined we would be where we are now,” White said to NASCAR.com in 2016. “It just took our community rallying around this idea. I had no foresight that this was going to happen like this. It’s just such a blessing for the community and for my life.”
Since founding the organization in 2010, Parker has grown BackPack Beginnings to serve more than 85,000 children annually. The bags that BackPack Beginnings provides include both Food BackPacks and Comfort BackPacks, which contain food and other necessity items respectively and go to children that are in need in the greater Greensboro, North Carolina area.
Since 2010, Parker has provided 741,7622 pounds of food and 5,516 Comfort BackPacks.
