The NASCAR Foundation team has been working diligently behind the scenes preparing for a new, revamped and safe Speediatrics program for kids in our local racing communities. Now that the green flag is waving, our team is in full gear, ready to deliver.
To kick off our first Speediatrics Fun Day Festival, we returned for a third year to the Chicagoland Speedway market by partnering with Greater Joliet Area YMCA, a nonprofit dedicated to helping kids live healthy and active lives.
Although the Foundation was not able to join the kids in person, we planned exciting and interactive activities to keep each child engaged. Best of all, we asked NASCAR drivers, including NASCAR Cup Series driver Daniel Suarez, NASCAR Xfinity Series driver Austin Cindric and NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoor Truck Series driver Natalie Decker, to join in on the fun and inspire the children to stay active and healthy throughout the summer.
Leading up to the Speediatrics Fun Day Festival, the children received their Speediatrics Fit Kits, packed with fun tools to help them get active. Items included a water bottle, jump rope, activity book and even a pedometer watch to help them keep track of their steps every day!
From learning more about the sport of NASCAR to doing a variety of exercises, the kids learned how drivers and their pit crew members need to stay healthy off the track in order to be successful on the track.

To end the week, approximately 91 kids participated in our Speediatrics Fun Day Festival. From competing in the tire race and sponge relay to eating healthy snacks and drinking waiter, the kids had the opportunity to put what they learned from the week into action.
