The NASCAR Foundation and DCE Solar Build Playset for 4-Year-Old Cancer Patient in honor of Child Health Day

The NASCAR Foundation and DCE Solar joined forces recognize Child Health Day by building a backyard playset for Luke Miller, a 4-year-old pediatric cancer patient Novant Health Hemby Children’s Hospital and the Novant Health St. Jude Affiliate Clinic at Hemby Children’s Hospital

“We are thrilled to partner with The NASCAR Foundation in honor of National Child Health Day,” said Dr. Catherine Ohmstede, pediatrician and clinical physician executive of the Novant Health Women & Children’s Health Institute. “Providing remarkable care is at the core of everything we do here at Novant Health and working together to build the playground set for Luke is just a small glimpse of the compassion we strive to provide for our patients inside and outside of our facilities.”

Volunteers and staff from DCE Solar and The NASCAR Foundation built the playset at Luke’s grandparents’ home so that he can have a safe place to play during his cancer treatments and beyond.

The playset build is in collaboration with Roc Solid Foundation and an effort of The NASCAR Foundation’s Speediatrics Children’s Fund, which supports needs expressed by hospitals, specialty clinics, camps, and others providing children’s medical and health care services.
