Meet Rich Langley – 2020 Betty Jane France Humanitarian Award Finalist

Rich has volunteered for 9 years with Roc Solid helping to build more than 160 playsets while also leading fundraising efforts; he has completed over 25 travel projects, each a three to-four day commitment.

Since 2009, Roc Solid has been using the power of play to help defeat pediatric cancer, a disease that is diagnosed in nearly 16,000 children in the U.S. every year. The organization has built 700 playsets and provided 2,000 Ready Bags, everything a family might need for an unexpected hospital stay, to children diagnosed with pediatric cancer in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. Rich dedicates approximately 25 hours monthly to helping Roc Solid and also instructs other volunteers on how to construct the builds.

Rich has been a NASCAR fan for 45 years favoring Dale Earnhardt and most recently attended the February 2020 DAYTONA 500.

Funds received from winning $25,000 through the Betty Jane France Humanitarian Award would fund five playset projects and 25 Ready Bags impacting 30 children and their families.
